A
Letter from Our President On this website you will find information about the programs, committees
and activities of our congregation.
Please regard this as a warm invitation to participate in the life of
the Society. Each Sunday, from September 9,
2007 though May 11, 2008 we will have duplicate services at 9:15 and 11:00
a.m. From May 18, 2008 through August
31, 2008, we will have a single service at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. Our minister, The Rev. Sarah Lammert, leads
the service three of every four Sundays.
This year, Rev. Lammert will be on sabbatical from January to early
June. During this time, Sunday
services will be led by visiting ministers, guest speakers and members of our
congregation. Our religious education program is
directed by The Rev. Tracy Sprowls Jenks.
Details regarding the schedule and curriculum can be found beginning
on page 26. The RE program ends in
early June, but child care is available during summer services. Music Director Elizabeth Martyn is
an accomplished pianist who provides music for our Sunday services and
arranges for guest artists. Please
consider joining our adult chorus which sings at three services during the
year. The following web pages describe
our many committees and activities. If you are interested in starting
something new, talk to one of the trustees: there are probably others who
share your interest. Our Music
Committee provides special concerts.
The Art Committee arranges for the works hung in Anderson Hall. Our Membership Committee makes visitors
feel welcome, and the Caring Committee provides services for members and
friends who are ill or grieving. The Social Responsibilities
Council is involved in many worthy causes including hunger, equity for all
gender orientations, helping the homeless, advocating peace and justice and
improving the environment. We enjoy socializing with each
other at congregational dinners, picnics, softball games, weekly coffee hours
after the services, luncheons, the annual Service Auction and the Fellowship
Feast. All are organized by enthusiastic
volunteers who care deeply about The Unitarian Society of Ridgewood and its
members and friends. We are all busy,
but we find time to care for each other and to make the congregation thrive. I urge you to call or e-mail the
office at any time for more information about our many programs and events. You’ll be warmly welcomed if you attend our
events or committee meetings. Thanks, Jim Russell, President of the Board of
