Whether you are brand new to this Society, or are a
current member or friend, this website is an invaluable resource. I invite you to browse through this site
with the spirit of an
adventurer. Perhaps you are looking
for a new way to connect with others, nurture your personal growth, or find
support. Or maybe you are ready to
offer your time and talents for the good of the whole community. This congregation is what we make it,
together. Hopefully this guide will
enable you to find a niche that will deepen your journey with Unitarian
Universalism and strengthen your ties to the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood
in particular.
This
particular year in the life of the Society will provide the congregation
with unique opportunities and challenges.
I will be fully present all fall and through the end of
December. From January through June,
I will be away on sabbatical. It is
the tradition in Unitarian Universalism to offer a month’s sabbatical time
to clergy for every year of service.
This is a time for the minister to rest and renew; while for the
congregation it is an opportunity to really reconnect with its ownership of
the community. My plans for this
special time include travel, study, art, and spiritual renewal.
The
congregation has special plans too, including a “Reunion Tour” of ministers
who have either served our congregation in the past, grew up here, or found
their call to ministry as a member here.
The Rev. Tracy Sprowls Jenks, our Religious Education Minister, will
remain here and will provide a steady ministerial presence during these
months. In addition, the New Jersey
UU Leadership Leaves Council will provide area UU clergy for Sunday pulpit
visits and emergency pastoral care.
Area congregations will also provide their best lay services once
each month, thus strengthening our ties to other UU congregations in New
Jersey.
This
congregation is truly a gem, worthy of your precious time and
attention. Jump on in, the water is
fine!

Journey,
